the month of surprising october.

havent blogged for the longest time. sooo many things have happened.

here goes:
  • happy 23rd yeo yeemei! hope u had a nice 'supplies'!

her surprise birthday party. happy birthday!

  • i've got a new DS lite! it is a gift from her. she was afraid i would get bored on the plane to taipei cos budget mah. so sweet. heh. and now yym has the same DS lite for her bday! :D we can play mario kart together! no need to pretend your tetris game is a ds lite.

  • the one after another trip. tired but so fun! wish i didn't have to come home. at least for awhile longer.

the 'surprise! happy birthday mushroom foo to siem reap' was an eye-opener. firstly cos of the culture and ruins at angkor wat, secondly we were trying to keep our eyes opened while on the tuktuk. everything was in USD, except the really small items like food from road side stalls. i kept hearing "hello lady, one dolla one dolla". people there are kinda money-minded, but with no malicious intent. the food there is rather, sweet yet bland, unlike singapore cuisine. we started to miss singapore after awhile.

she finally found out we were not going to KL.

our tuktuk guy for 2 days. quite a nice guy but he made us miss the sunset. :(

our first meal upon arrival.

first dinner, at the red piano.

the sunrise at angkor wat. we woke up at 5am local time to catch this. it was a tad cloudy though.

the road leading to angkor wat.

yumalicious cambodian steak for only USD$4! sauteed onions and abalone mushrooms with a generous splash of white wine.

after we were manipulated to go for the floating village ride. it didn't turn out too bad. just that we didn't get to see the sunset here as planned. we spent quite abit on this village alone, buying overpriced stationery for the kids on the floating school. why can't they go to school on land?

trying her hand at fishing on the boat in the middle of the nowhere.

thank you everyone for ganging up on her with me!

we came back from siem reap on saturday, had a day to rest (actually we were playing mj at ty's place after we arrived in singapore) and off we went to taipei on monday! siem reap was for the experience, taipei is for the experience and the food and food and food and shopping and shopping and shopping....

i was so darn excited! from the airport to the plane, till we reached taoyuan airport, and till we got to the hotel. we got ourselves settled at about 9pm and we chiong-ed to shilin night market. the food, the pasar malam ambience and the barang barang they sell, OMG exciting! we spent like quite abit on food that night. we went back for the next two nights of our trip. i'm missing the chou chou guo (smelly pot). it's like xiao wan mian, but smelly like smelly tofu. but it was so gooooood. but mushroom didn't like it.

we went shopping here and there, took the subway, got on buses, hailed cabs. i loveeee Wu Fen Pu. it's like a shopping paradise for girls. things ain't exactly dirt cheap, esp if you are not local.

here we are! we decided to hop on the express bus to the city. very much cheaper than taking a cab.

the lift of our hotel. look how happy i was!

look how happy she was!

first night at shilin market. oyster mee sua! smelly tofu! pig's blood!

2nd night at shilin night market: chou chou guo!

3rd day: food court in a shopping mall near shin kong mitsukoshi

we discovered this part of shilin market on the third night.

awww look at this meow meow. their cats are the size of small dogs.

the cks memorial hall

wish i didn't have to come back so soon. i could have gotten fat over there.

  • i'm starting work again on monday. boohoo.
